The first session of CCA's Winter Indoor Cornhole League featured a championship match between two teams quite familiar with each other. Brody Schoen and Nate Wottring's Jelly of the Month Club entered the playoffs at a surprising 7-seed after a no-show earlier in the season caused them to slip in the rankings. But they battled through the playoffs to earn a matchup against the #1 ranked team Bags Deep, featuring one of CCA's most heralded cornhole tossers- Harold Allen (pun intended)- and teammate Greg Duncan, for all the marbles. Despite longtime partner Nick Harbin leaving Bags Deep behind to pursue other trivial matters, Allen showed why he is truly the glue holding Bags Deep together, as he and Duncan dominated througout the season to earn the top ranking heading into the playoffs. Bags Deep seemed poised for yet another championship; however, Schoen and Wottring had other plans. After emerging from the loser's bracket, Jelly of the Month Club forced Bags Deep to a single, winner-take-all game in the finals. And lo' and behold, a new champion was crowned as Schoen and Wottring's Jelly of the Month Club downed Bags Deep 21-14. Congratulations to the winners and all other teams who participated!
